AFC 2014 Morning Prayer

Directions for Prayer - Franciscan Federation During our prayer this morning, we will commemorate the 35 th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi being proclaimed the Patron Saint of Ecology by praying for those most affected by climate change, the millions of environmental refugees, and for those among them who are victims of Human Trafficking.  Prayer leads us to action. An action that will flow out of our prayer this morning, and out of our Franciscan Heritage to care for creation, will be to pledge to uphold the five tenets of the St. Francis  Pledge. A copy of this pledge is located on the table for each participant. Many of you may be familiar with this pledge from the Catholic Climate Covenant and some of you may already have signed this pledge. There is a brief visual introduction to our prayer, which will be followed by a moment to silently reflect on what you have seen. We will then have five intercessions. Each intercession addresses one of the five tenets of the St. Francis pledge. Pray, Learn, Access, Act, Advocate. As an introduction to the intercessions, we will sing the refrain, which is on the slide.  We will repeat the refrain at the end of the intercessions. At the end of the intercessions, we will recite the St. Francis pledge together and the Board Members for Fran Fed will then sign the pledge in the name of the Franciscan Federation. We invite each of you, if you have not had a chance to sign the pledge, to sign as individuals on papers that are located on the table at the back of the room.    Click here for a printable copy of the Prayer Service Directions                               PowerPoint Presentation Click here for a copy of the PowerPoint of the Franciscan Federation Conference 2014 Peace and Justice Resolution Morning Prayer Sunday, June 20th: St. Joseph Pledge to Care for Creation and the Poor.
