Synopsis: When her college-educated daughter began exhibiting unusual actions and symptoms, local author Virginia Pillars and her family were taken on a journey filled with pain and the eventual diagnosis of schizophrenia. In writing her book, Pillars is helping to take the stigma out of mental illness, showing that it is no different than physical illness except that it happens to affect the brain. She also shows that with faith and support from family and friends, someone with mental illness can live a happy, productive life.
