SUMMARY:Franciscan Federation Virtual Annual Retreat: "Singing a New Canticle: 1225 - 2025"
DESCRIPTION:Francis of Assisi has inspired generations of artists\, poets\, mystics and nature-lovers. He is probably the only Christian saint to be found in local garden shops and hardware stores. What is it about his inclusive vision of all creatures as brothers and sisters that can inspire us today? What clues does he offer that suggest an alternative approach to living in our “Common Home” as Pope Francis has encouraged us to do? Please join us in this celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Canticle along with brothers and sisters from across the country. Registration is open now.

SUMMARY:Retreat: "Japanese Art of Kintsugi: Embracing Our Imperfections with Grace and Courage"
DESCRIPTION:The Japanese art of Kintsugi takes broken pottery and repairs the cracks with gold. These restored bowls\, formerly considered worthless\, become treasured items of great worth and beauty. During this overnight retreat at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) we will use this art as a symbol of our spiritual life. Our wounds and failures can easily harden into shame and regret. Yet\, if we look at our lives through the eyes of grace and compassion\, our painful experiences can be transformed into great sources of inspiration\, beauty and wisdom. Facilitated by Jean Pagliaro and Julie Connelly\, this retreat will include time for creative expression\, presentation time\, individual reflection and small-group processing. \n\n\n\nThe cost of this overnight retreat is $225\, which includes sessions\, art supplies\, Friday lodging\, and Saturday breakfast and lunch. The commuter fee is $205\, which includes sessions\, art supplies and Saturday lunch. Click here to register for the retreat.

SUMMARY:Retreat: "The Spirituality of Interdependence: Forging Peace by Being Franciscan"
DESCRIPTION:A unique retreat for religious and the laity. Franciscan spirituality is best characterized by its emphasis on relationality. How we relate to one another reveals our deepest values. In our polarized world\, how we express our values has often led to broken or frayed relationships. The Franciscan tradition offers evocative illustrations of both lay and vowed practitioners who forge a spiritual path and deepen their faith through peacemaking. Through cultivating a capacity for presence\, deep listening\, prayer\, and skillful speech\, this retreat uses the Franciscan tradition to develop and practice personal skills grounded in faith that will serve us in rebuilding relationships that matter. We are pleased to offer this program as our annual retreat for religious as well as welcoming our community to attend. Pre-registration required by Thu\, May 29 at 4:00 pm. \n\n\n\nReduced Fee for Religious: Please call 480.948.7460 for religious rates and registration.

DESCRIPTION:Take a heart-centered journey into the power of the human voice to express emotion and awaken healing vibrations within \n\n\n\nFriday\, Aug. 22\, 6:30 p.m.–Saturday\, Aug. 23\, 4 p.m. U.S. Central TimePrairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center (120 Boyson Road Hiawatha IA 52233) \n\n\n\nClick here to register \n\n\n\nCome to Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) for a heart-centered journey into the power of the human voice—its ability to express deep emotion\, release fear and awaken healing vibrations within. It’s not just for singers; in fact\, it may be especially meaningful for those who feel hesitant to speak or sing or who have been told they “can’t” or “shouldn’t” use their voice. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin Friday evening around the campfire (weather permitting)\, sharing stories and songs in a safe\, welcoming space. On Saturday\, we’ll explore how the voice works and experiment with sound and vibration in the body. We’ll reflect on our personal relationships with our voices and then use them in group vocal meditation practice—a powerful alternative to silent meditation\, especially for those navigating grief\, trauma or PTSD. We’ll close with communal singing for healing\, connection and empowerment—lifting our voices together through facilitator Mary Jane Knight’s song-affirmations from her album\, celebrating the dignity and power of our own unique voices. \n\n\n\nCome just for Saturday or join around the campfire and spend the night Friday. The cost of this overnight retreat is $195 and includes sessions\, Friday lodging\, and Saturday breakfast and lunch. The commuter fee is $120 and includes sessions and lunch. \n\n\n\nA non-refundable deposit of $25 is required at registration. (Full payment is required to register online. If you prefer to pay the $25 registration fee now and the balance when you arrive\, please call 319-395-6700.) If you want to stay in a Hermitage\, you also will need to register by phone. Michael Reyes\, OFM \n\n\n\nTake a sacred pause in the middle of your day. This three-part online lunchtime retreat celebrates the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of Creation\, inviting participants to reflect on its deeper meaning as a Eucharistic prayer. Inspired by Fr. Anthony Carozzo\, OFM’s reflection The Canticle of Creation: Unravelling our Eucharistic Identity\, the retreat explores how St. Francis’ hymn calls us into deeper relationship with God\, one another\, and all of creation. \n\n\n\nEach session includes guided reflections\, interactive sharing\, and practical exercises to help you live the Canticle’s message in your daily life. Whether you’re joining from home or work\, bring your lunch and let your soul be nourished. \n\n\n\nFr. Michael Reyes\, OFM—a Franciscan friar\, artist\, and retreat leader—will guide the experience. His unique background in ministry\, theology\, and the arts brings a rich perspective to this spiritual journey. \n\n\n\nClick here for more information and to register
