SUMMARY:Virtual Series: "Celebrating the Canticle with St. Bonaventure with Pat Doody\, OSF" (Partner Event)
DESCRIPTION:In this Jubilee year of HOPE\, what inspires us to live in hope? How do we remain hopefully faithful in times of upheaval? St. Francis wrote the beloved Canticle of Creation in 1225\, praising God’s profound goodness present in all God’s creation. St. Bonaventure developed a spiritual theology that enhances our understanding\, prayer\, and reflection on this masterful work. During these evenings\, we will listen to the ancient wisdom of St. Francis and St. Bonaventure and how their wisdom speaks to our contemporary realities of change\, chaos\, and uncertainty. As we commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of Creation\, as well as the feast day of St. Bonaventure on July 15\, we will share the timeless treasure of their spirituality\, continuing to give us nourishment for today. \n\n\n\nOriginally from Atlanta\, Georgia\, Sr. Pat Doody has been a Sister of St. Francis of Dubuque\, Iowa\, for 39 years. Sr. Pat’s background includes ministry as an English and theology teacher in Catholic high schools in Iowa and Chicago\, parish faith formation director/pastoral associate in multi-cultural parishes in Chicago and Mississippi\, and director of novices for the Third Order Regular Franciscan Common Novitiate in St. Louis. She served as a member of the congregation’s Franciscan Charism team in vocation and formation ministries. She also ministered at Briar Cliff University as vice president for mission and leadership development. She has a Ph.D. in Practical Theology from St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens\, Florida\, an M.Div. from Loyola University\, Chicago\, and an M.Ed. and B.A. from North Georgia College and State University. Sr. Pat currently lives in Alabama\, serving as chaplain and activities coordinator for elderly adults with dementia. \n\n\n\nShalom Spirituality Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Saint Francis in Dubuque\, Iowa. Please register online or by calling 563.582.3592 by noon on Thursday\, July 3. This series is offered virtually via Zoom. The series and registration deadline are in Central Time
