Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor: A Synodal Conversation (Online; Partner Event)
October 20 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm EDT
Hosted by the Franciscan Spiritual Center, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia
Many of us are carrying deep questions about the environment, rising energy costs, the links between climate change and migration, and the future today’s young people will inherit. This synodal conversation is a chance to bring those concerns into a shared space of prayer, listening, and honest dialogue.
The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia invite you to extend the spirit of the Season of Creation by joining Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor: A Synodal Conversation. Together, we’ll listen to one another and to the voice of the Spirit — hearing and responding to the cries of Sister Mother Earth and of those most vulnerable to the impacts of the ecological crisis.
The fruits of this conversation will be shared with the national and global synodal process through the Catholic Climate Covenant, contributing to a wider Catholic movement of prayer and action in response to the environmental crisis.
In this Franciscan Jubilee Year, as we honor the witness of St. Francis 800 years after his death, we hold his prayer close: “May the Lord show us what is ours to do.”
