Join award‑winning novelist and former CNN editor John DeDakis for a compassionate, in‑person retreat designed to help participants navigate grief through the healing practice of writing. The retreat takes place Friday, April 24 (6:30–9 p.m.) and Saturday, April 25 (9 a.m.–4 p.m.) at the Franciscan Spirituality Center, 920 Market St., La Crosse.

Born and raised in La Crosse, DeDakis brings decades of storytelling experience and a deeply personal understanding of loss. Through guided writing exercises, journaling, storytelling, prayer, meditation, and supportive small‑group conversations, participants will explore pathways toward clarity, catharsis, and hope. No one will be required to share their writing.

Cost: $210 overnight (private bedroom, plus Saturday breakfast and lunch) • $140 commuter (includes Saturday lunch)
