Join us on November 4 for a timely and spiritually grounded workshop exploring what it truly means to love our enemies — not in theory, but in practice. Scheduled just after Election Day, this gathering offers space to meet a challenging cultural moment with clarity, compassion, and a deeper sense of Christian and Franciscan calling.
Dr. Amanda Udis‑Kessler is a pastor, sociologist, author, hymnwriter, sacred‑music composer, church consultant, and antiracism trainer. Her 2024 book Abundant Lives: A Progressive Christian Ethic of Flourishing and her current writing project on enemy‑love shape the heart of this workshop. Drawing on Gospel wisdom and her own research, Amanda will guide us through a conceptual and spiritual approach to loving our enemies — including what enemy‑love is not, why it matters, and how it connects to justice, healing, and human flourishing.
Participants will engage in a guided reflection, an interactive personal exercise, small‑group conversation, and a large‑group debrief and Q&A. Amanda will also share two pieces of her original sacred music as part of the experience.
This workshop invites us to rehumanize those who harm us, resist cycles of exclusion, and consider concrete ways we can work for the wellbeing of all people — even those we struggle with. It’s a chance to respond to division with courage, imagination, and hope.
